In the summer of 2003, David Beckham completed one of the most iconic transfers in football history. Interestingly, Beckham’s Madrid story nearly took a completely different turn. In a recent interview, he revealed that Barcelona had initially agreed a deal with Manchester United.
Former United CEO Peter Kenyon reportedly informed Beckham that a bid from Barcelona had been accepted. However, Beckham was clear about his preference. If he was to leave Old Trafford, there was only one club he wanted to join—Real Madrid.
Within days, the deal shifted, and Beckham’s childhood dream became reality.
