Emma Navarro produced one of her best performances of the season to defeat Victoria Mboko in the final of the Internationaux de Strasbourg on Saturday. The American star secured a 6-0, 5-7, 6-2 victory to lift her first trophy in 15 months and claim her maiden WTA clay-court title.
The win marked Navarro’s third career WTA singles title and her second WTA 500 crown. She previously won titles in Hobart and Merida. The Strasbourg triumph also gives her strong momentum before the start of Roland Garros in Paris.
Dominant Opening Set Gives Navarro Early Control
Navarro started the final with complete authority. She overwhelmed Mboko in the opening set and won 6-0 in just 39 minutes. Her aggressive shot placement and consistent serving forced the Canadian teenager into repeated mistakes.
Mboko struggled badly with unforced errors during the first set. Navarro remained calm under pressure and controlled rallies from the baseline. She also displayed impressive court coverage during several long exchanges.

Navarro Regains Momentum in the Deciding Set
The final set belonged to Navarro once again. She improved her first serve percentage and dominated the early points on serve. Mboko started committing more unforced errors as Navarro quickly moved ahead 4-1.
Although Mboko briefly threatened a comeback, Navarro stayed composed during the key moments. The American defended break points with confident serving and aggressive baseline play.
The match ended after another costly double fault from Mboko. Navarro celebrated an emotional victory after two hours and 20 minutes on court.
Following the win, Navarro admitted that the past year had been challenging because of illness and inconsistent results. She credited her team for helping her regain confidence and form during the clay-court season.

What the Strasbourg Title Means for Navarro
The Strasbourg title could become a turning point in Navarro’s season. The American entered the tournament ranked World No. 39 and is now projected to rise to No. 25 in the rankings.
This victory also marked Navarro’s seventh career win over a Top 10 player. Earlier in her career, she defeated Iga Swiatek during a major tournament in Beijing.
Navarro became the fifth American woman to win the Strasbourg title. More importantly, she now heads into Roland Garros with renewed confidence and valuable momentum on clay.

Mboko Continues Her Rapid Rise
Even though Mboko lost the final, her Strasbourg campaign confirmed her growing status on the WTA Tour. Earlier in the tournament, she defeated Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian in a hard-fought semifinal.
Mboko showed resilience throughout the week and reached her third WTA final of 2026. Her powerful groundstrokes and creative drop shots troubled several experienced opponents during the tournament.
The Canadian teenager also impressed fans at last year’s French Open after advancing from qualifying to the third round. Many expect her to become a serious contender in future Grand Slam events.
