Drew Allar Injury Ends Penn State Season

What started as a season filled with championship hopes has spiraled into heartbreak for Penn State. With Allar sidelined indefinitely, redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer is expected to take over as the starting quarterback. Grunkemeyer has appeared sparingly this season, attempting only 11 passes in his collegiate career.

“It’s about the guys in the locker room, and they’re hurting,” Franklin said. “I’d do anything to take that hurt away. But like I told them—we’ve got to stick together.”

The emotional toll of Allar’s injury was visible across the team. Wide receiver Devonte Ross, who transferred to Penn State to play alongside Allar, expressed heartbreak following the loss.
“I love Drew,” Ross said. “It’s a tough situation knowing how much football means to him and how much this team means to him. It’s tough, but it’s next man up.”
