Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso spoke to the media at Real Madrid City ahead of the match against Rayo Vallecano . The game is part of La Liga’s Matchday 12 and will be played at the Vallecas stadium (4:15 p.m.; Orange TV and DAZN).

The coach acknowledged the difficulty of the match and the good form of the opponent.

“It’s a tough away game because of Rayo’s high level of play. Our last few matches there have been very close. We drew last year, and a lot happened. We’re ready for a high-intensity, fast-paced game. Every match is the most important, and we’re going there with that mentality,” Alonso said.

Maintaining the rhythm before the break

The coach stressed the importance of maintaining the team’s positive momentum.

“We want to maintain our current momentum in the league and finish strong before the break. We’re aiming for consistency in our performance, although not every match is the same. I have no complaints about the team’s attitude.”

After the European match, the group is now focusing its attention on the domestic competition.

“The match against Liverpool has been analyzed and discussed. Since Thursday we’ve only been thinking about Vallecas,” the coach stated.

Trent, ready to return

Alonso confirmed Trent ‘s recovery and his possible participation.

“He’s ready. He’s been training for a couple of weeks. You’ll find out tomorrow whether he’s in the starting lineup or not.”

The Englishman’s return is generating excitement among fans, who hope to see him back in the starting eleven.

Physical effort and game analysis

The coach spoke about the team’s intensity and the interpretation of physical data.

“We need to put it in context. We’ve had all kinds of matches. The data needs to be interpreted according to how the match unfolded. We shouldn’t make definitive assessments based on just one game.”

He also insisted that performance should be analyzed from a global, not isolated, perspective.

Valverde, a key and versatile player

One of the standout names was Federico Valverde , who has performed solidly in various roles.

“Due to the circumstances, he’s played at full-back and done very well. We know his ability and willingness. He’s always ready to help the team. He’s an option for the short and medium term.”

The Uruguayan’s versatility gives the coach more tactical resources and balance on the field.

Rodrygo and offensive flexibility

In attack, the coach highlighted Rodrygo ‘s adaptability .

“Yes, he can play on either wing or through the middle. He’s done it many times. It’s a possibility we have.”

Thanks to that versatility, the Brazilian remains one of the team’s main offensive weapons.

Rayo Vallecano, a rival with identity

The coach praised Rayo Vallecano and their manager, Íñigo Pérez , for the work done in recent seasons.

“They are a great team with a good coach. They have been doing very well since last year. This year they are competing in Europe. They have mastered their style and always make things difficult for their opponents in Vallecas.”

Regarding Pérez’s progress, Alonso added:

“He was Andoni Iraola’s assistant and now he’s taken over with great authority. Rayo has a clear vision and exudes personality. That’s why they’re performing so well.”

The coach reminded everyone that the match will demand maturity, concentration, and intensity. “There won’t be any easy moments,” he warned.

A wardrobe with character

To conclude, Alonso highlighted the commitment and ambition of his group.

“It’s a dressing room with great players and a lot of personality. We’re starting a new project with enthusiasm and ambition. I’m very happy with them. We’re taking firm steps and that gives me energy.”

The goal is clear: to finish with a victory and good feelings before the international break .
