Police Respond to Ashburn Shooting
According to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:32 p.m. ET on Sunday in Ashburn, Virginia, just outside Washington, D.C.
When deputies arrived, they found an adult woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency responders transported her to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated her for serious injuries.
Although authorities did not immediately identify the victim, ESPN reported that the injured woman is Mia Bieniemy, 57, the wife of Eric Bieniemy.
Investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. However, officials said they do not believe the public faces any ongoing danger.
Son Arrested and Faces Multiple Charges
Police arrested Elijah Zion Bieniemy, the son of Eric and Mia Bieniemy, shortly after the incident.
Authorities charged him with:
- Malicious wounding
- Use of a firearm during the commission of a felony
- Discharging a firearm inside a dwelling
Officials booked Elijah Zion Bieniemy into the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. He remains in custody without bond while investigators continue their work.

Kansas City Chiefs Release Statement
The Kansas City Chiefs acknowledged the incident in a brief public statement.
