Former WBC light heavyweight champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk has parted ways with Zuffa Boxing after suffering a knockout loss to Radivoje “Hot Rod” Kalajdzic.
The Ukrainian veteran revealed that Zuffa terminated his promotional contract following the defeat. The decision has sparked debate among boxing fans.

Gvozdyk is 39 years old and has now suffered two defeats in his last three fights. His previous loss came against David Benavidez in 2024.

Gvozdyk Has Had an Impressive Career
The contract termination does not erase Gvozdyk’s achievements.
In 2018, he defeated long-reigning WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson. Gvozdyk stopped Stevenson in the 11th round to capture the world title.
He successfully defended the championship once before facing Artur Beterbiev in 2019.
Beterbiev stopped Gvozdyk in the 10th round. That defeat ended Gvozdyk’s unbeaten professional record.
After several years away from the sport, Gvozdyk returned to boxing. He later faced Benavidez and Kalajdzic in difficult matchups.
His willingness to accept challenging fights remains an important part of his career story.
