The Miami Hurricanes have dismissed wide receiver Cam Vaughn from the football team just weeks before the 2026 college football season begins. Head coach Mario Cristobal confirmed Vaughn’s departure on Monday, August 17, but he did not explain why the transfer receiver was removed from the program.
The decision adds another change to Miami’s roster during an important preseason period. Vaughn had joined the Hurricanes during the offseason and was expected to provide another option in the passing game.

Miami coach Mario Cristobal confirmed that Cam Vaughn is no longer part of the Hurricanes program during his Monday radio appearances in Miami.
Cristobal did not provide details about the decision. His comments were brief and focused on wishing Vaughn well.
“Wish him the best,” Cristobal said.
The coach also indicated that Miami would continue preparing for the upcoming season. The Hurricanes are now moving forward without a receiver who was expected to contribute to their offensive plans.
Cam Vaughn Joined Miami After Productive Season
Vaughn transferred to Miami from West Virginia in January. His arrival was viewed as a potential boost for the Hurricanes’ wide receiver group.
During the 2025 season at West Virginia, Vaughn recorded 35 receptions for 541 yards and four touchdowns. He averaged 15.5 yards per catch.
Those numbers showed his ability to make plays down the field. As a result, Vaughn was expected to become a deep-threat option for Miami.
Before playing at West Virginia, Vaughn spent the 2023 and 2024 seasons at Jacksonville State. His experience across multiple college programs gave him valuable exposure to different offensive systems.
However, his time with the Hurricanes ended before he could make an appearance in the 2026 regular season.

Vaughn is the fourth Miami player to leave the program since the conclusion of spring practices, according to reports.
