Massman’s mother, Brianne Massman, later said her son suffered a helmet-to-helmet collision during the game. She described the family as devastated by the sudden loss.

Lincoln High School Community Mourns

Lincoln Junior/Senior High School opened its doors Saturday for students, families and friends following Massman’s death. Counselors were also made available to help students process the tragedy.

“LLA,” meaning “Long Live Adam,” became part of a tribute created by Massman’s teammates. They painted his parking spot in his honor. The tribute also featured images connected to his family’s cattle business and tire tracks representing his truck.

Superintendent Semingson said Massman’s loss affected the Lincoln community in many ways. His family had strong connections to the school district.

His mother worked as an elementary school counselor. A sibling attended the junior high school. Other relatives also worked in the district or served the school community.

A Talented Multi-Sport Athlete

Adam Massman was known for his involvement in several sports. He played quarterback and defensive back for Alma Center Lincoln’s football team.

He also competed in basketball and baseball. MaxPreps statistics show that Massman made a significant contribution during the 2025 football season.

In six games, he threw for 858 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed for 280 yards and three touchdowns. That gave him 1,138 total offensive yards during the season.

Massman also earned recognition away from the football field. He was named to the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association’s 2025 Boys Basketball Academic All-State list.

His accomplishments extended beyond school sports. According to his obituary, Massman enjoyed working with animals and attending cattle shows. He also won a Bred and Owned Beef Steer award at the Wisconsin State Fair in 2025.
